Curried Rice
Type: Backcountry   Meal Type: Main Course

  • 1 cup instant rice
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp dried onion flakes
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp chicken or vegetable bouillon
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground turmeric
  • Chopped cashews (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup water

Cooking Instructions:
At home combine dry ingredients in a freezer zip lock bag and write cooking instruction on bag with permanent marker.

At camp, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add to rice mix and steam inside bag for 1-2 minutes or until the rice is tender. Serve topped with chopped cashews. Makes 1 serving
